Simon Heyworth
Super Audio Mastering’s Simon Heyworth established his reputation in recording at Virgin’s Manor Studios, most notably as co-producer of Mike Oldfield’s Tubular Bells.
During his years as a recording engineer/producer, Simon showed an early interest in Mastering by always attending the vinyl of any records he worked on. Record engineering took him through many innovative ideas including mixing in Quadraphonic, the industry’s first foray into Surround Sound.
After some years working as a music producer for Film/TV soundtracks, which took him to studios all over Europe, he decided to go back to his roots working as a technician in the studio.
During the early 1990’s Simon joined ‘Chop Em Out’. Due to his extensive experience working with analogue tape, exceptional care, attention to detail and creative nature, Simon made the perfect engineer to take the Chop Em Out Mastering division forward. In his time there he built up a wide array of credits and relationships with labels and artists Re-Mastering legacy catalogue and Mastering new albums.
Simon became part of the SACD pioneering group of Mastering engineers working in DSD in both Stereo and 5.1 Surround Sound.
In the summer of 2002 Simon moved to Devon establishing his own revolutionary Mastering studio, Super Audio Mastering, in the picturesque/stunning Dartmoor National Park.
In championing High Resolution Audio in Stereo and 5.1 Surround Sound, he Mastered various High Resolution Audio projects for: Simple Minds, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds and Depeche Mode. Having spent the best part of his career working with both Analogue Tape and High Resolution Audio, Simon offers the highest quality Mastering in Stereo and 5.1 Surround Sound for CD, Online, DVD, Blu-ray & SACD.
The Studio
Located in the Dartmoor National Park in the South West of England, Super Audio Mastering is established as one of the world’s finest Mastering facilities. Housed in a spacious granite-walled roundhouse, the studio is fully equipped to Master your music, both in Stereo and Surround for CD, DVD, Blu-ray, Online Distribution or SACD.
Super Audio Mastering (SAM) does not compromise on quality and is not a ‘one-size-fits-all’ type service. Simon and Andy’s clients are testament to the fact that they work with their clients, not just for them. The whole experience is much more involving for the Artist.
